This may sound kind of silly: When I was driving to meet motorcycle journalist Neale Bayly at his home for an interview, I figured he lived in some rad cabin in the woods. Or maybe a palatial mansion with a garage filled with the latest bikes and gear. After all, he’s ridden through 45 countries in 35 years on motorcycles. He had to live in cooler digs than the rest of us.
I was pleasantly surprised to see Bayly, 51, lives in a quiet suburb in Charlotte. It’s where he recharges for future adventures, like his latest one: the travel reality series Neale Bayly Rides: Peru, which premieres on the SPEED Channel on Sunday, June 9, at 9 p.m. In my latest article for Creative Loafing Charlotte, Bayly reveals how his childhood made him the man he is today, his hopes for the new show and how he stays grounded in such an exotic career.
